Backrooms: Escape the Yellow Rooms
About Backrooms: Escape the Yellow Rooms
Backrooms: Escape the Yellow Rooms drops you into a disorienting maze of yellow corridors where someone has already passed through and left clues behind. Old waltz music drifts through the rooms, and your goal is to silence it — that's the way out. A strange black figure roams the level, and it reacts badly to noise, particularly the sound of footsteps. Several scenes show a grid of nine square indentations recessed into the floor of a large room, hinting at the geometry of these unsettling spaces.
How to Play Backrooms: Escape the Yellow Rooms
To escape, find a way to turn off the old waltz music playing throughout the level. Clues left by a previous visitor help guide the way. The black entity that wanders the level is drawn to sound, so how you move matters depending on which mode you choose. If the entity gives chase, find the nearest closet or a dead-end room with a door — the entity cannot open doors.
Game Modes
- Safe: the entity is absent, letting you move freely and study the map without threat
- Normal: the entity is present and reacts only to the sounds of footsteps
- Hardcore: the entity hears you anywhere on the map, and closets no longer provide safety — running and cunning are the only options
