About Fillword Islands: Hexagonal Word Search on Tropical Islands

Fillword Islands puts a fresh spin on word search by placing every puzzle on a hexagonal grid set within a tropical island exploration theme. Instead of the four directions found in a classic word search, the hex layout opens up six possible directions for every word, making each puzzle feel genuinely different from the familiar grid format. Several scenes show clusters of blue, green, and tan hexagonal tiles arranged into map shapes at the center of the view.

The game suits word puzzle fans who want a relaxing session that still gives the brain a gentle workout. Beyond solving individual puzzles, there is a social layer: a global leaderboard lets players view and appreciate the islands other participants have collected, and each player can designate one Favorite Island for others to see.

How to Play Fillword Islands

The objective is to locate every hidden word on the hexagonal grid. A word list at the top of the screen shows what to find; some entries are concealed and displayed only as dots matching the number of letters in that word.

Forming Words

Because the grid is hexagonal, words can run in any of six directions from each starting cell.

Hints and Bonus Words

Two hint options are available when progress stalls: Reveal one letter shows a single letter of a chosen word, while Reveal the entire word completes it outright. Bonus words that are not part of the main puzzle can also be found on the grid; discovering them awards extra XP, with longer bonus words earning more XP than shorter ones.

Island Unlocking and Collection

Clearing all words on a grid unlocks a new section of the current island. Islands with higher difficulty open a smaller area per completion. Unlocked islands are saved to a personal collection that holds up to 30 of the most recent islands. The first islands are identical for every player, but from the 10th island onward each player receives unique puzzles. One island from the collection can be marked as a Favorite Island, making it visible to other players on the global leaderboard.
