King Land
About King Land: Build and Defend a Growing Kingdom
King Land is a hyper casual arcade game with simple, intuitive controls centered on growing a city from the ground up. As the king, you lead residents, direct workers, and push the borders of your territory outward in a single continuous level with no fixed endpoint. The goal is to expand the kingdom, grow the population, fill the treasury, and fend off the enemies and pirates who attack your buildings and inhabitants.
A purple character wearing a yellow crown and a red cape moves through the environment as the player's avatar. Several scenes show stacked piles of gray cubic blocks and brown rectangular logs resting on rectangular platforms. In one scene, a continuous brown textured wall with a single arched opening surrounds the green play area.
How to Play King Land
Everything in King Land flows from the king's movement. Residents follow the king once approached, and their role is determined by where the king leads them next. Approach trees and the trailing inhabitants become lumberjacks who extract wood; head to rocks and they turn into masons who gather stone. Walk up to a building under construction and residents become workers who carry resources and build it out. Lead inhabitants to a farm and they become farmers who grow and sell vegetables. The more inhabitants the kingdom holds, the greater its income.
Upgrading is handled at specific locations. Visit the castle and tap the upgrade button to improve the king, which increases the flow of new residents. Approach a farm and tap its upgrade button to improve farm output. New territories are unlocked by approaching the wall that borders a closed area. When enemies draw near, the king attacks automatically — simply get close and combat begins. Coins are collected by visiting the store.
