Unusual Chess takes the classic strategic board game and expands it with four distinct modes, giving both tradition-minded players and those hungry for something unexpected a reason to sit down. The game develops logic, tactical thinking, and visual memory — and whether you face a smart AI or a friend on the same device, every match is a fresh confrontation. Game Modes

• Classic: A pure strategic confrontation with no shortcuts — play against a smart AI or a friend.
• Fisher's Chess: The pieces on the back rank are randomly shuffled every game, eliminating memorized openings and demanding improvisation from the very first move.
• Horde Mode: Play as the Horde, with three full rows of pawns against the opponent's standard army.
• Random Position: The board generates a random position at the start, dropping players straight into the action without any warm-up.

How to Play Unusual Chess

From the main menu, choose one of the four modes, pick which color to play, and decide whether to face the AI or a friend on the same computer. The AI difficulty is adjustable. From there, think through your tactics, set up checkmates, and enjoy every game.

Special Moves

• Castling: Move the king two squares towards the rook — the game automatically completes the castling.
• Pawn Promotion: When a pawn reaches the last rank, it turns into a queen.

Controls

• Left-click on a piece: Highlights all available squares for that piece's move.
• Left-click on a highlighted square: Moves the selected piece to that square.
• Hold left mouse button on a piece and drag: Drags the piece across the board.
• Release left mouse button: Places the piece and completes the move.
