About «Crazy Quilt» Solitaire
«Crazy Quilt» Solitaire is a two-deck card game built around a striking 8x8 grid of 64 cards arranged in alternating horizontal and vertical orientations. That interlocking pattern is the quilt itself — cards overlapping one another like intertwined threads — and unraveling it is the whole point. One scene shows a grid of dark rectangular shapes at the center of the board, some positions occupied by playing cards. The goal is to clear the quilt and the deck by building all cards onto eight foundations on the left side of the board.
How to Play «Crazy Quilt» Solitaire
At the start, one king and one ace of each suit are extracted from the two 52-card decks to serve as foundation starters. The remaining 64 cards fill the 8x8 quilt, and the rest form the draw deck.
Foundation Building Rules
- Foundations started with kings are built in descending order by suit.
- Foundations started with aces are built in ascending order by suit.
- The solitaire is complete when all cards from the deck, discard pile, and quilt are placed onto the 8 foundations.
Quilt Card Playability
- A card on the quilt is playable when at least one of its short sides is not touching an adjacent card.
- A free card may be moved to one of the two foundations of its matching suit.
- A free card may also be placed onto the discard pile if its rank differs by exactly one from the top card of that pile.
Deck and Discard Pile
- Cards from the deck are turned over one by one.
- The discard pile may be reshuffled back into the deck once per game.
