About Boxzilla: Dots-and-Boxes Grid Game with Power-Ups

Boxzilla is a dots-and-boxes game played on a grid of dots where two players take turns drawing lines between neighboring dots. Completing the fourth side of a box claims it, earns a point, and grants another turn. What sets Boxzilla apart from the classic format is a power-up layer: every box on the board holds a special icon that activates the moment a player claims it.

Several scenes show the grid rendered with black circular dots connected by blue, red, or light gray horizontal and vertical segments. Some square regions within the grid appear filled with a translucent blue or red color marking each player's claimed territory.

How to Play Boxzilla

After starting the game, a grid of dots appears on the board. Click any empty edge to draw a horizontal or vertical line between two neighboring dots. If that line closes the fourth side of a box, the box fills with your color, you score one point, and your turn continues. If the line does not complete a box, the turn passes to the other player. The game ends once all possible lines have been drawn and every box is claimed; the player with the higher score wins, and equal scores result in a draw.

Power-Ups

In this game mode every box contains an icon, and the corresponding power-up activates automatically when you claim that box.

• Double-points: the next box you claim counts as two points.
• Extra turn: you receive an additional turn.
• Bomb: removes a random opponent-owned box.
• Steal-box: takes a random opponent-owned box.
• Chain-reaction: automatically claims any adjacent boxes that become completed.
• Score-swap: swaps the current scores of the two players.
• Reset-zone: clears all lines in a small area of the board.
• Arrow: draws a line that instantly completes any box it touches.

Controls

• Click: draw a line on an empty edge between two adjacent dots.
